Dentons partners with Bucharest Law School and the Sorbonne for the first law school clinic program in Romania
Perry Zizzi,Managing Partner, Dentons Bucharest

Dentons has signed a partnership with the Clinique Juridique Francophone de Bucarest (CJFB), the first law school clinic in Romania. The clinic was founded by Bucharest Law School and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne to instil the importance of pro bono legal advice and provide practical training to law students. By participating in the clinic, students help ensure access to legal resources to persons who cannot afford to pay. The clinic is open to students of the Franco-Romanian Law College enrolled in the Master 2 course (Law and Governance of International and European Affairs). Attorneys from the Bucharest office of Dentons will mentor and supervise the students.

The partnership includes collaboration in several areas, such as working on practical cases and the opportunity to intern at Dentons.

“Dentons fully supports promotion of a legal pro bono culture in Romania, and this is a great starting point in the law school educational system. We need to ensure that everyone has equal access to justice regardless of ability to pay. Congratulations to the Clinique Juridique for showing leadership on this topic. We look forward to working on this landmark program”, stated Perry Zizzi,Managing Partner, Dentons Bucharest.

“The Collège Juridique Franco-Roumain d’Études Européennes is excited to announce the first-of-its-kind partnership between the Clinique Juridique Francophone de Bucarest and Dentons, which will provide our students with an opportunity to build on their skills and to volunteer counsel work for those who need it most, under the supervision of attorneys from one of the best global Law Firms. This collaboration fits our ambition to expand our network and to support our students as they embark on their professional journey”, stated Elena Pacea, Secretary-General, Collège Juridique Franco-Roumain.

The CJFB operates as a branch of the Sorbonne Law Clinic and students involved in this project receive a double license, one from the University of Bucharest and one from University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
